A Case of Hemothorax and Extrapleural Hematoma Developed After the insertion of Internal Jugular Catheter

Abstract
Internal jugular vein catheterization may cause multiple complications. We experienced 1 case of extrapleural hematoma after right internal jugular vein catheterization. Patient complained dyspnea and chest discomfort 1 day after operation. On
the
chest
PA, right lung was collapsed by extrapleural hematoma. The cause of hematoma was unclear but we suspected that hematoma might have caused by puncture of carotid artery or venous laceration during the procedure of internal jugular vein
catheterization.
Extrapleural hematoma should occur, differential diagnosis with hemothorax must be established. And a brief review of the case and its literature are presented.
